Big Wind

--:-- / --:--
Notes:

My dear friend Diana Marie scribbled these lyrics on a series of napkins a couple months ago at Blayney's in Westport.... she'd come to see me play at the open blues jam and all that.

I've been playing with the two guitar pieces for a while - the first is a Csus2, Csus2b5, Am6/7, Gmaj7 vamp for learning to play in C Lydian from Don Latarski's "Practical Theory for Guitar" (If you're music stupid like me and play guitar, BUY THIS!) while the second is some other finger style thing I made up a while back. They mashed up nicely together, and I threw a capo on the 4th fret to transpose up to my vocal range.

Anyway - I've been fighting writers block lately and Diana's lyrics were just sitting there winking at me so I used them. She's got a very busy schedule these days, but I'll be sure to corner her in the studio to accompany the vocals before the summer is over.

Lyrics:

Esus2
Come on big wind
Esus2b5
Come shake me down
Dm6/7
Shake me loose
BMaj7
From my comfort tree

Esus2
I need to know
Esus2b5
How it feels
Dm6/7
To let my head smack on the ground
BMaj7

For my wings to rest upon you
To lift me where I'm to go
Over that hill and through that way
To where next I'll have no say

Lift me high and carry me
To where it is I'm supposed to be
Over that hill and through that way
And maybe this time I will pray

Esus2
Come on big wind
Esus2b5
Come shake me down
Dm6/7
Shake me loose
BMaj7
From my comfort tree

Esus2
I need to know
Esus2b5
How it feels
Dm6/7
To let my heart break all around
BMaj7

Esus2
Come on big wind
Esus2b5
Don't you think it's time
Dm6/7
Out of the nest and away
BMaj7
From the rhyme

Esus2
Your branches have held me
Esus2b5
Safe for so long now
Dm6/7
Let'ss see if you can break
BMaj7
Their grasp of me
